Starting Up

Even though I have been blogging over six months now, I still feel like my quilting career is just beginning.
Finished Lemon Squares
My first quilt from a pattern by Fresh Lemon Quilts
Some other blogs post multiple times a week, and I feel lucky if I get something written down a few times a month! But I'd like to think of this as my starting point.
Finished! #lesamis #scoutquilt Up on the blog today :)
Recreated from this quilt by Cluck Cluck Sew
I am still at the beginning stages, drawing out my quilt plans, figuring out what I like and who I am. Sometimes I get so excited about expanding the ChelsieCreates brand sometimes and feel like I am not moving quick enough.
Finished Gypsy Girl Quilt
Another quilt from a pattern at Moda Bake Shop
But for right now I am content to recreate other's works and learn to hone my skills so I can become more confident in my own designs.
It's coming along. Slow and steady, I will do this. @canoercreations #FMQC June My Scrappy Flyin' South
Combined ideas this time from Jeni Baker and Canoe Ridge Creations
When did you start to feel that you were becoming your own designer and creator? Or are you like me, still learning and growing?

What adorable quilts! I totally feel the same way you do. I don't get enough time to sew to post as often as I would like either. Good luck developing your brand. Right now I am trying to develop my long arm quilting business so again I can totally relate. It was really nice meeting you!

All your quilts are so adorable! I completely set up my blog in March of 2012 BUT I didn't write my first post until February of 2013!
Todays post was number 71 I think.
So, just do what ever makes you happy - don't put time restraints on any of it! Just enjoy the process.
Visiting from Plum and June and I am a new follower:)

You made some pretty quilts so far. We are all different so just enjoy what you do and don't feel like it's competition out there. It's mostly about having fun. That's how I feel about blogging.

Like you, I started blogging at the start of this year. I don't write very often, but do enjoy it, and it adds a new aspect to my quiltmaking, which I have been doing for ages.
My quiltmaking has always been my creative outlet, I do not follow a pattern. I just like playing with fabrics and colours too much, and always change things around. It doesn't mean that I am not learning and growing, too, though. I love learning new techniques and I am doing a course to improve my design skills [another excuse to play ;-)]...

I just started blogging at the beginning of this year, too, but I've been quilting for a long time. I agree with the others - do what you love! I love trying lots of different designs and fabrics. My favorite things change often! Your quilts are beautiful!

Oh I can definitely identify with what you wrote! I'm a new blogger - started earlier this year but posted sporadically, am making a renewed effort now. :)

I think it definitely takes time to develop a style, plus I enjoy sewing for gifts, so my style often depends on what I think others will like. Think your quilts in this post are all beautiful, though!

Anyway, excited to see that you're a math major - I'm an engineer. :)
